Tomahawk Warehousing Services
was founded by Stalling Inc. to serve the logistics requirements of
its parent and other manufacturing companies in Central Virginia.
Stalling, an International dealer in
leaf tobacco was founded in 1898. During the late sixties, they had
serious difficulties serving the special tobacco storage and distribution
needs of their European customers. A feasibility study suggested a separate
corporation focused on logistics in the area would serve Stalling as
well as others and was a viable possibility for success.
Hence, the founding of Tomahawk Warehousing
Services providing contract warehousing for the parent company occupying
one third of its total space and marketing the remaining two-thirds.
The newly formed corporation grew steadily during the seventies and
was double in size by the end of the decade. The early eighties saw
the company again expand one hundred percent and enter long term leasing
agreements for warehousing facilities in the area. The additional assets
were successfully marketed and Tomahawk experienced sustained growth.
The end of the eighties and early nineties again saw Tomahawk expand
one hundred percent to the present with over three hundred fifty thousand
square feet of multi location facilities in Central Virginia Region
2000.

| Today, Tomahawk
can look back with pride on their success and can contribute this success
to the dedicated personnel who struggled with the many logistical problems
of exporting tobacco. They understood then that a seamless transfer
of inventory was a necessary part of doing business and that ideal was
brought forward and instilled in the newly founded warehousing corporation,
Tomahawk. Those same people still maintain decision-making positions
and they are particular to instill these same values in present and
future employees of the company. The basic operating procedures implemented
prior to the founding of Tomahawk remain intact. It is this careful
attention to detail that we may attribute to our success. |
